Men’s Cheerleading Shoe Solution

We’ve heard the struggle time and time again…

“I have guy cheerleaders on my team, what do I do for shoes for them?”

First off, can we just vent for a sec and say how not fair it is that guys don’t have enough decent options when it comes to cheer gear? They’re just as much a part of a cheerleading squad as us girls. Seriously not fair and it’s frustrating for them and for coaches. Okay, venting over.

Trust us, we feel your pain, we’ve been there and the struggle is very real. But, after getting so many of these questions on Men’s Cheerleading shoes, we have decided to provide you guys with more options!

You’re welcome ;)

Keep reading for insight into defeating this problem.

So basically there are two main options for Men’s Cheer Shoes: an actual shoe for Men or convert their size to a women’s size. Both options have pros and cons.

Men’s Cheer Shoes
We’ve searched high and low for an actual men’s cheerleading shoe and we are sure that you have come up with the same conclusion: There is pretty much nothing. So the first option is to go with an all-white or mostly white gym shoe that can double as a cheerleading shoe. Like we said above, there are both pros and cons to each option.

Pros
It’s an actual men’s shoe. It comes in their actual shoes size, it fits a male foot better, and they don’t feel like they’re sacrificing some of their masculinity by wearing a women’s shoe (yes, we’ve heard this complaint many times too). These gym shoes are perfect for outdoor and sideline cheering because they have such a durable rubberized sole, they hold up great, and are usually pretty easy to clean.  Here is our pick for a men’s cheerleading shoe.

Cons
We told you they were coming, here are the cons to converting a simple gym shoe to a cheer shoe. Normal gym shoes tend to be bulkier in shape, heavier, and less flexible. Do the guys on your squad only cheer outdoors on the track for football season? Or on the court for basketball season? No worries, the bulkiness and weight won’t really make too much of an impact on their cheering.
BUT do the guys on your squad tumble, cheer indoors on a mat, or compete at an all-star cheer level? This is a BIG worry. All of their tumbling will be affected by the bulkier, less flexible gym shoe. Also, cheer guys have complained that the durable tread isn’t as seamless in each step they take because it gets caught on the blue mat. If your male cheerleaders fit into this category, then you might want to seriously think about option #2 below.

Women’s Cheer shoes for Men

Option 2 is a great choice for those who want the same cheer shoe as the rest of their squad OR who are seeking a higher level shoe that will really perform. Converting their men’s size to a women’s size. There is 1 ½ to 2 sizes difference from men’s shoe sizes to women’s shoe sizes. *Most* cheerleading shoes for women’s come up to a size 12 so after the conversion, they can fit up to a men’s 10. (We’ve provided you with a handy conversion chart just to make it all that much easier. See nice we are ;) )

**Disclaimer: These are simply sizing recommendations, they are not 100% guaranteed since every style fits every foot differently. We highly recommend reading the style description to select the best size for that shoe. Or call us, we’re here to help!

We already hear you, “but wait most of the guys on my squad wear an 11 or 12”.  Remember, we said *most*. We have rounded up the best cheer shoe options that go up to a women’s size 14. They are all high performance cheer shoes so any style you decide on will be amazing.

Nfinity
Pretty much all Nfinity Cheer shoes are sized up to a women’s 14 which is really great new. Plus, they’ve just come out with a men’s clothing line for all of their other gear--> http://www.nfinity.com/Nfinity-Two30. (we’re hoping they come out with an actual men’s shoe soon) But still, super exciting.

Nfinity Titan, Defiance, Vengeance, and Evolution are amazing all options.

Cons

Just like option 1, there are the cons. As a general rule, men’s feet are wider than women’s feet. Men are obviously built differently, they stand differently, and therefore their feet are different than women’s. This can be a little difficult for certain male cheerleaders because they might find them a little too tight. If they still fall in the women’s to men’s conversion range, then simply sizing up an extra ½ to a full size will do the trick to accommodate this. If not, then we are incredibly sorry to say that you might be back at option 1 :( we’re so sorry!! The other con that is not as common but has happened is that the shoes wear out faster than they do for the girls. Again, they are built differently and stand differently so sometimes the added durability in the sole are in the wrong areas for the wearer. Unfortunately you won’t know this con until it’s too late and it’s time for a new pair.
We so hope this helps! While these two options might not be complete life changers, they hopefully can provide a little less headache when trying to figure out what shoes to put your guy cheerleaders in.

As always, if you have ANY questions, we are always here to help you figure all of this out!
