There are officially only 2 days until 2015, and we all know
what that means. Everyone wants to know what your New Year’s resolutions are. But
let’s be honest, how many people actually stick to their resolutions? If you
raised your hand, we give you mad props! But for the rest of us slackers,
resolutions are just plain hard to keep. So this year, we've decided that
instead of making resolutions, let’s just have a great year! We've asked
everyone here at Cheer and Pom what they think would make 2015 better than
2014. We compiled the answers and listed them for you below. So
here are our 10 ways to make 2015 your best year yet.
1.
Try something new

So many times we get stuck in what we know and do on a regular basis. But think about all of the things you want to try but are scared or are too comfortable with what you do now. Think about something you really want to do. Is there a new cheer stunt you want to learn? How about nailing a complicated tumbling pass you've always wanted to try? Broaden your horizons! Sometimes the best things happen outside of your comfort zone, & who knows, maybe you’ll find something you absolutely love.
Repeat after us, 'I will go outside more'. Stop what you’re doing, put your phone
or tablet down and just go outside. Being stuck inside all of the time can get depressing. I’m not saying go crazy about the outdoors or
anything. Because come on, Pretty Little Liars, am I right? BUT getting outside
one time a month more than you do now can feel super great. Take your dog for a
walk, go on a bike ride, or just even sitting outside with a book can feel
amazing.
3. Turn off Social Media
This
is one that sort of goes along with being outside. Put the phones, tablets,
laptops, etc down occasionally. We know, this is a hard one. Being connected
with your friends and staying up to date on everything is what we love most.
But sometimes our brain needs a break. Best relief? Simply disconnect and turn off
the world for a couple hours. Turn up some music and just dance, read a book, or put a cheer or dance routine together with some friends. We promise, you will
return to your Instagram account feeling so much better!
Sounds
cliché, we know, but it can help make a slightly crappy day a whole lot better.
It’s all about silver linings and making the best out of anything. It’s so easy
to see all of the negatives about a situation, but the reality of it is, is
that it will only make you feel worse about it and then have a negative effect
on the rest of your day. Stay positive when things go wrong, we dare you. It
makes a world of difference!

5.
Be kind.
As
the golden rule says, “Treat others how you want to be treated”. It’s probably
been drilled into you since you were about 3 years old, but we can’t tell you how many
times it makes our day when people are just plain nice. No attitudes and just
all smiles instead. Holding doors, picking up things when people drop them,
saying bless you when someone sneezes. Even simply smiling at someone when they
walk past you can make a world of difference. Give it a try, make someone's day!
6. Stay Organized
Clutter
sucks. Keeping organized on a regular basis will make life way easier. Color coordinating, filing cabinets, clothes
categorized by occasion and color are a little much for us. However, let’s face
it, you've got a lot going on. School, cheerleading, dance, competitions, work,
family, friends, and the list goes on and on. It gets overwhelming sometimes. But
simply picking up your room right before bed or taking the time to sit down and
write down your to do list for the next day can help you to feel on top of
everything and not behind.

7.
Exercise
The
hardest part about exercise is getting off the couch and out the door and doing
it. Most people exercise
because they feel that they have to in order to lose weight or look like the
girl in the magazine. We think that we should take away the “Exercise to lose weight”
idea and replace it with “Exercise to feel good". Exercise releases endorphins, puts you
in a good mood, and gives you energy. Plain and simple, it is just good for you. Even
if it’s only for 30 minutes once a week, that alone can make such a difference
in how you feel.
8. Live in the moment

That is what we are doing to make 2015 our best year yet, we’re challenging you to join us in bettering your year! What is great about all of these things, is that they are so easy. Even if you did each of these one more time than you did in 2014, it’s progress. And who knows, maybe you'll find something new that you love to do.
